Assistant Minister for Planning and Human Resource Development, was appointed to this post by H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson in 2013.
As Assistant Minister for Planning and Human Resource Development, Hon. Summerville is charged with the responsibility of preparing plans for the technical operations of various departments and bureaus, reviewing all planning and development programs from various departments before making recommendations for implementation and monitoring and evaluating all projects of the Ministry.
The Honorable Minister brings to the table a wealth of experience having worked for thirteen (13) years in the area of gold, diamond and iron ore exploration and gained a strong knowledge of mineral governance protocols and practical experience associated with mineral exploration.
Immediately before his preferment to this post, Hon. Summerville served as senior project geologist at Aureus Mining from 2012-2013; the honorable Minister has also worked in the following capacities: geologist at BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Western Australia (2011-2012); project geologist at BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Liberia (2008-2010); senior geologist at Liberian Geological Survey, Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy (2001-2008). Hon. Summerville has previously been seconded as project geologist to the following companies: Diamond Fields Liberia Exploration (2008); Western Minerals Resources Corporation (2005-2007); Liberty Gold and Diamond Mining Company (2005); American –Liberian United Minerals (Amlib) (2003-2004) and student geologist (2003) at the Grand Bassa Gold Inc.
The Hon. Minister holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in geology from the University of Liberia (2001); graduate diploma of Science in Geology from the University of Western Australia (2011) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Ore Deposit from the University of Western Australia (2012).
