Under Executive Law, Chapter 33.2, the Land Sector is charged with the responsibility of producing topographic and cadastral maps at various scales, handling land disputes and formulating land policies.The sector comprises of one section, the Department of Lands, Survey and Cartography and four (3) bureaux: Bureau of the Liberian Cartographic Service (LCS), the Bureau of Lands and Surveys and the Bureau of Land Information and Training.
Bureau of Liberian Cartographic Service (LCS)
The Liberian Cartographic Service undertakes national topographic mappings as well as geodetic control establishments. It also produces thematic maps.
Bureau of Lands and Surveys
The Bureau of Lands and Surveys, Department of Lands, Surveys and Cartography is one of the technical arms of the Department of Lands, Surveys and Cartography charged with the statutory responsibility of enforcing laws and regulations aimed at upholding the Land Tenure System of Liberia promulgated by Government. The Bureau is additionally responsible for cadastral Mapping Activities of the entire country and coordinating the activities of the fifteen (15) Resident County Offices across the country.
The Bureau of Land Information and Training
The Bureau of Land Information and Training is an arm of the Department of Lands, Surveys and Cartography responsible to carry out land adjudications within the Republic and to conduct training of surveyors and demarcation officers.
